Yea, with Reason or Cubase (maybe others). I like being able to slice apart sound waves to come up with my own unique samples.

It is nice to see how many people are keen on Kontakt. On the other side, I think HALion 3 is very underrated.

It does not have the nicest graphical user interface, but its sound-mangling possibilites are on the level of Kontakt and sounds suprisingly good (especially its envelopes).

However it requires a Syncrosoft hardver dongle.

Sorry I did not vote. The one I do have I would not have voted for Kontakt 2. It has to be one of the worse programs Ive had to ever deal with. The midi assignment are terrible. The forum well lets just say its nothing compared to here or sonar. tech support (what tech support). For with in my experience they sound great. Well the rest (I'm just hoping and begging that knotakt 3 will be a vast improvement)

Unfortunately many of these polls are populated by people who have only used the one they currently have. How many home studio folks can afford to buy HALion, and then switch to Kontakt if they don't like it?

Also, until you try a different piece of software, you often won't know what you're missing, unless there are obvious defects in the current setup that prevent you from realizing your musical dreams...

I agree to a certain extent. But on the other hand even if it is the first one that should by no means be a determining factor. If a piece of soft ware cant even live up to it most basic functions then its junk no matter what the experience level is.

Ah, sorry. I actually meant to include a disclaimer indicating that I wasn't aiming my remarks at you. A critique is a critique, and if it's based on experience of any kind, it's valid for the one making it--in my book.

Still, even in your case, maybe you would vote against Kontakt. But what *would* you vote for, without using others? Something that makes these polls often times just a measure of overall sales figures. Still useful, but limited in what they tell us...

I agree with what you say. The fact that I should have done more home work before I bought it is no one else's fault and your right this is a poll for what you like not what you don't like. One of the biggest thing that bugs me is the rave reviews and it turns out to be a disappointment. Now don't get me wrong I love what I hear but just basic midi control is a total let down. Oh well this is not the first nor will be the last as getting soft synths and instruments. At least sonar 7 is out now and it will include dimension Le ill be able to get it for about 175. so it will be worth it. I'm going to be looking at one of tweaks favorite and get some pointers from him on it. I know I'm just rabbling on but if I can do the controls using a touch screen them midi for the most part will be unnecessary.
