I've been trying to find something to use for field recording.

what do you think of this?

Anyone used it before or know how it performs?

What would you recomend for field recording?

Looks awesome. I don't think anyone has one yet as it is very new.

Heh, they followed Sony's idea here. I wonder how much better the Sony sounds for another $1,550

That's what I was wondering too. Well with the flashy VU meters and lack of mp3 recording along with its' cool' factor," Sony's must be better...

I guess we'll know the real test when someone records with both and gives a review... that is, if sony doesn't bribe them...

well so far I've heard mostly bad reviews about it and that it is cheap. Has anyone here used it?

I've used it and I love it. I'm a fan of zoom though and have been for a while. It's a 4-track recorder and a field recorder. It has great sound quality and if you do any kind of 'record samples' and plug them into the computer sampler, it's great. The menu and the way it works is kind of extensive but the effects are great. I think tascam has just come out with one for around the same price. I've also used it to plug a guitar an condensor mic into also - it's good for that too.

..This thread is from back in 2006...

I was starting to wonder why everyone thought the old zoom was something brand new haha

more info, The older zoom H4 is better than the new H2 IMO due to some mic problems people have reported with the new H2 and I really like having on board XLR inputs....

That's a very slow response time.

Good thing this isn't Zoom customer service.
