NI has a new product called Maschine that looks worthy.

http://www.native-instruments.com/newre ... ontent=101

With over 5 GB of sounds and patterns Maschine offers fat drum kits, synths and acoustic instruments tagged and easily found within the software browser. MASCHINE also features effects and mastering tools, all tweakable in real time from the hardware controller. Pattern based sequencing is fast and friendly. The sixteen illuminated, velocity-sensitive pads will be familiar to anyone who has ever made a beat. Rotary encoders, buttons, and transport controls make the software interface "feel" like any hardware sequencer/sampler you may have used in the past. Once all your beats have been crafted to perfection you can open the plug-in without hardware and use your creations in your favorite DAW. Dope

If this works like it should (and being a fan of NI, I have no reason to believe it won't) this looks very appealing!

Their website has it listed as $669.

Do you think this is the list price or do you think that will be the zzounds/GC price?

I might have to save up for this one...

Some nice idea's, but if you already have a good sound library and nice worflow I wouldn't see the point of implementing something like this, that's just me though. Most high end sequencers are handling the beat making area very well right now, just get a pad controller and learn your built in drum sampler inside out.

Wow watched the vids on their website and this thing looks dynamite! Have an mpd 32 already and was thinking of trading it in for either a mpc 2000/xl (I've seen them for $600) or a apc 40 for live performance but now I dunno. I noticed there's no bank buttons on it maybe I need to look at it again so I don't know about about controlling other software like ultrabeat (although I assume tranfering the ni battery files would be possible). The problem I have with kore 2 is sifting thought 10 000 patches the tags really don't help (unless you already know what patch your looking for) and some aren't recognized even though you save it multiple times (like .ntk files for kontakt). I think automap would be more useful or presets on a mpd/pad kontrol for each major drum vst that way you could more easily control other software because if it's like the kore hardware I don't think it's possible to use it as a controller for other software and map the knobs, etc unless you using their program. Hello Friends, I have a question about freeware, so-called. I was able to accomplish a "free" (listed as such) download of KORE, version 2 0.4 003 from Native Instruments... Is this worth learning, it seems pretty cool, I like some of the sounds, but everything seems quieter than my Logic 8 plug-ins/soft synths.... maybe I pooched the install or maybe I've downloaded some sort of nasty bug. Everything is working fine other than the volume difference. Any experience to share? Thanks, Brad

Hi Brad. This forum has a zero tolerance policy for pirated software. Read the rules. I'll tell you that many folks asking such questions will share the experience of being banned here. Please buy your software, and if you want to try before you buy, most companies make trial versions available.

When I downloaded the KORE, I was under the impression that free, meant free, like an advertisement or inducement to buy their product. I have not been at this digital music/computer world for very long, not even a year, but there was no indication that I was flirting with thievery, if I had known it, I wouldn't have done it. Please Rick, you make a quick jump from what I wrote to what you think happened, as a matter of fact, I registered the FREEWARE with Native Instruments before I could activate it. It has a serial number and there was no indication that I was stealing. I understand that software piracy is common-place. I will write native instruments and explain the situation. If indeed, this is "hot" stuff I will delete it promptly. Ignorance may not be a good excuse, but my intentions were pure.I understand that the integrity of this site is important and I haven't found sarcasm to be a helpful quality in maintaining it. Thanks, Brad

We're cool. The way you originally wrote about it, it sounded like it came from a torrent, mostly because you put free in quotes. Sorry for the accusation.
