Lets Talk about the Digidesign Eleven

Eleven Rack is a revolutionary new guitar recording and effects processing system designed to eliminate the challenges guitarists have faced in the studio and on stage. Say goodbye to the lackluster guitar amp "models" of yesteryear: Eleven Rack utilizes a unique tone cloning design and one-of-a-kind, custom-designed True-Z input to re-create the experience of playing through a full guitar rig. By combining studio-standard Pro Tools software with a DSP-accelerated high-resolution interface, Eleven Rack puts professional recording into the hands of every guitar player.

This looks like a brilliant piece of hardware for the recording guitarist.

I’m not a guitar player. But my friend was impressed with the basic free simulations in Eleven LE. Which came free with my PT8 upgrade. I thought that Eleven LE sounded “real” also. But this rack version has brought it to a much higher level.

This is a PT LE rig! All the inputs and legendary quality. Plus it’s DSP powered with full setting recall...unbelievable! Near zero latency. The DSP is going to allow you to run high quality processing with out taxing your computer to death. I hope Digidesign continues to invent great products like this. +1 for Eleven Rack!

It looks amazing. The fact that they meticulously emulated every circuit in the amps, as well as simulate the impedance at the jack, will make this a gigging-guitarists best friend. The product's page at the Digidesign site is totally worth looking at. I was first a bit disappointed by the seemingly limited amp selection (when compared to something like a full version of Line 6's PodFarm), but I realized that every amp there is one that I'm usually looking for the sound of, anyway.

My only concern, and it's my concern with every Digidesign product (which has been my only reason for not buying any, beside price, obviously) is that they almost avoid admitting their products can work with other sequencers... So, my question is this... in USB-interface mode, can this be used with something like Sonar or Live?

How is DigiDesign stuff with other DAWs? That would probably answer this question.

It certainly looks very impressive. Im sure it will deliver too.
I do wish that manufacturers (and SOS magazine) would stop using super imposed VST reflections or VST images on top of rack gear and other equipment.
Its like a visual buzz word. Makes me not want to buy it cos of the gimmik value.

IMHO, digidesign dont do things by halves, so I think it will be safe to say that it will be a great unit to use.
Look forward to seeing what the users here have to say about it.

I heard it at a seminar and its sounds great. Very convincing! I do not believe it will work with other DAWs In USB mode.

No offence to any of you Digi-philes out there, bit after giving it the visual once over, I fail to see a significant difference from the Pod Pro, and considering that the PODX3 PRO offers twice the inputs, for half the price, I also fail to see where it fits in the Market outside Pro Studios with a reputation to uphold.

It clearly doesn't work finincially for the home studio user, at nearly £700 or so. That's £700 for a USB INTERFACE.
I fail to see this as anything more than a rather cynical attempt to invade an already saturated marketplace by using a brandname.
The audio examples sound perfectly fine, but they certainly don't justify the extra spend over something like Guitar Rig or the PODX3.

As a guitar player myself I would rather keep my guitar processing separate from my interface. This is the 'externally processed' eleven plug in with a PT interface? I have not been happy with any amp plug ins I've used for achieving high gain sounds - clean are usually good. Why is this, am I the only one? I'm going back to micing up or direct outing from the real thing.

I agree with DD. Is there something unique with this box compared to a POD pro?

Looks nice though...

The only thing or REAL note that I've wished someone had done years ago is the True-Z input. Everything else is a matter of taste.
In the end, I still prefer ReValver.
