Kore Player

Postby cmreal04 on Fri Feb 22, 2008 10:42 pm

Anyone else checked out the Free Kore player at the NI site? it's being released in March with additional soundpacks available for purchase. I really like the idea of being able to just buy the sounds I want and only familiarize myself with 1 other instrument. Any other thoughts.....

Sounds like taking all the fun of synths away, to me. You can only tweak a couple of parameters of the presets.

I guess it depends on how you plan to use it. The parameters it gives you instant access to, the morph pad, plus the additional tweaking that you can do to shape the sound within your sequencer if used as a plugin, personally I see the possibilities endless......

I suppose you're right. I won't be swapping it for Reaktor any day soon though.

good idea

Postby jsepeta on Fri Mar 07, 2008 6:05 pm

since komplete and kore cost so much $$$, it probably makes good business sense for ni to come out with a lower cost product (like kore player FREE) to whet newbie's appetites for NI sounds.

I'm trying to download it and see what it contains. The NI site is REALLY SLOW! I started the 587M download 9 hours ago and it's only half done! (No, it isn't my connection, because I can usually download a 500M chunk in about an hour).

try it this week

Postby jsepeta on Mon Mar 10, 2008 12:38 pm

will try downloading it this week. i'd love to own kore but where to put the controller? also there's the cost. personally, I think kore software should be free for komplete owners since it blends together componenets from the komplete system.

I wish korg's team of programmers would recode legacy cell to use all the korg softsynths. this idea of blending and morphing sounds from different softsynths certainly has the edge over trying to do this in hardware

Who needs the kore controller anyway, my sl compact auto maps to everything including the morph pad! Kore player+auto map+kore sound packs= well I don't know, but I'm having a lot of fun with it.

kore player vs. individual NI products

Postby jsepeta on Sun Mar 16, 2008 12:15 pm

after finally getting Komplete 5 loaded on my mac and pc daws, plus all the updates, i thought I'd go trawling for free sounds at kvraudio.com and ni's website. i've noticed that a number of sounds are in the .KSD format for use in Kore. does this mean that it will (over time) become more difficult to find patches for Absynth in .GLO format? Just wondering if by pushing Kore, Native Instruments is going to end up cutting off sales of their other softsynths...
