Antares Autotune 5 or Logic's Pitch correction?

What's the best way to use software plugins in the virtual console in your sequencer? DX, VST, TDM, RTAS, Audiosuite. How these are used for tracking and mastering are subjects for discussion here.

Antares Autotune 5 or Logic's Pitch correction?

Postby bigmercy on Wed Jan 30, 2008 12:15 am

I have both but I have never used the autotune. I bought it before I got Logic studio and now I am wondering.... Is the pitch correction comparable to autotune(i.e. as good as or better than) or is autotune 5 a lot better and worth keeping in addition to what logic has on board.

If the Logic pro pitch correction is as good then I would probable sell the Autotune 5...

Thanks in advance....

I have never used antares, but I like logics alot. What are you trying to do with autotune? Like more of a electronic t-pain/cher/hellogoodbye type voice or trying to sound natural, but with a fixed pitch? Logic's is better for the latter, but when you crank up the response time, you can get a little robotronic. Also you can limit the amount of notes, which can help. Sorry this wasn't more helpful, but All I'm saying is that Logic's is good, and probably just as good as most other software autotunes.
P.S. this is what part of the alphabet would look like if q and r were eliminated.

I haven't used Antares either, and for the record, I'm a die hard fan of Logic. Having said this, pitch correction is one of the weak spots of Logic. Yes it has the function, but from everything I have read, and seen of other specialty auto tune apps, Logic lags behind them.

That's interesting.

Any other thoughts out there?

I have auto tune 5, and I really like it. You only get the "robot" T Pain-like sounds when you crank the parameters.

Melodyne if you can't make do with Logic and don't need real-time processing.

The biggest difference is that AT has a graphical mode where you can be more specific and accurate than the auto mode. The Logic plug only has the auto mode.
