Celemony Melodyne 2 - Impressive!!!

What's the best way to use software plugins in the virtual console in your sequencer? DX, VST, TDM, RTAS, Audiosuite. How these are used for tracking and mastering are subjects for discussion here.

This direct note access technology is pretty impressive. Watch the video. Of course one has to try things in practice before you make a true judgement. I will be even more impressed if they get this in a live use tool.

I want a live use tool too, but it would require that they make a psychic program that just "knows" where you want to push things as they're sung. From the looks of it, if anyone could do that, that dude could. Wonder what his facial hair would look like then.

Your Gears are what you like and how you make use of them.
Music was born before you, so, make it as a leader and let it show you the right way.

Haha. No what I had in mind for the live tool was along the lines of taking samples and playing the individual notes by midi. But I would probably be more impressed by what you suggest! :-P

And I suppose in my excitement over the technology I missed the threads where it was already posted.

I was just trying that to recreate samples for my beats. I used melodyne but it would only work on simple chords. now they came up with this I can't be stopped!!! that's the best idea yet!!! can't wait.

It will be interesting to see how long before we can actually unbake a cake! Clearly if you can "suck" a note out of a chord and recreate it (or delete it) at will, with little audible loss in sound quality, it's only a matter of time before you can suck an entire guitar line out of a mix.

I commented on this in the other thread, but I don't think they actually made any real steps towards what you are talking about. It's more of a clever workaround. You can't really judge until it's released, or they file a patent, but I think the solution to blind source separation will come from communications or other signal processing environments and trickle down to audio. Probably not the other way around. (Simply because there's more money being poured into that research on the other side.)
