Subs.. are they worth it.

i saw an ad online today, and I wonder if it's worth it.

here's the ad

includes two (2) EV B-115 Low-Frequency cabinets loaded with EVX-150A 1,000W tour sound woofers
Includes an EV/Dynacord PCA2450 amp.
Includes the Hardigg 4-space ATA rack.
Includes the EV/Dynacord Dx34 Digital Loudspeaker Management controller (crossover, etc.)
Includes two (2) LONG Neutrik Speakon to Speakon speaker cables and one short.

the whole package is 750. is this a good deal? do the subs sound good? thoughts?

That's not a bad deal. But those subs are friggin heavy. What do you have for tops?

I've worked with a lot of EV speakers: That is a good deal. Do they sound good? For $750, yeah. For live stuff you can get away with being really sloppy. People just want to "feel" something. Anything. It could be 180Hz for all they care (including the FOH guy, typically).

I would be adding those subs to two Kustom KPC215H towers I have.

Should sound much better than just the Kustoms. It'd be a good start, then as soon as you can, upgrade the tops. Those Kustom boxes just aren't very good boxes.

right. I like the kustoms, they've done well, but compared to other systems, there is a reason they are so cheap..

Exactly. If you ever A/B them with some better boxes, Say JBL SRX or EV QRX, you'd be astonished how much better the others are. However, you're talking 3 times the money.

A good match for the EV subs, that aren't going to break the bank would be these.

I don't like the JRX stuff at all. For the money, the Yamaha gives you much better quality.

Cool. We will be testing out a yamaha sub later this week.. pretty excited! all I know about it is, it's 15 inches and self powered... my buddy says it's the bomb, so we'll see... either way, it's a fun toy to play with for the weekend and if me and my friend really like them, we'll get a pair..
