Logic 5.5

Postby Bob De Celle on Fri Oct 24, 2003 8:01 pm

Is Logic 5.5 available? I know they discontinued it for windows but is it still available for purchase? I came across an e-mail address from Electroncic Musicain but somehow it turned out to be wrong. Any information on this would be appreciated. I really need a good sequencer with some sensible notation.

The product is discontinued. There might be old stock at some stores, but it's doubtful. You might call emagic.

Rich, though Logic is discontinued for PC, I wonder if you are familiar with the "MIDI Studio" within Magix Music Studio Deluxe. It is supposed to be based on Logic. So I ask, are there any Logic books you or someone might recommend, for example, Logic 6 Power! or whatever to help me master more of that MIDI Studio? I have a basic grasp of it, but that manual just doesn't cut the cake in explaining how to do things or exploit the apps potential. And the forum/teck support is so inadequate.

Or would I be better off just abandoning it and moving on to something else? Sonar 3 or? At least something that I can get some "how to" guides to go with it.

I never used Magix. I doubt tht the logic books will help with it. I recommend the Home studio-->sonar approach on the PC. Or cubase for those that are more into audio than midi.

Thank you so much, Rich. I am sure that you tire of the s.o.s., but it is kind of nice and reassuring to hear it personally. Doggone it, if they only cared enough, Magix is so feature packed (albeit no 24 bit recording), but what a steal if someone could master it.

Let me share with you... what a heck of a thing. You know, I need to get into this more, but I also have Sound Forge and Acid Pro. Only thing is, I need multiple tracks, so SoundForge with its 2-track limitation hurts. And Acid does not seem to be so hot of a MIDI sequencer, at least to me. And I also love video. I tried a demo of Vegas 5, and though I appreciated a greater sense of dynamics in the audio, I also experienced a noticeable distortion in the sound that accompanied it. So I have Ulead's Media Studio Pro for video, which is beautiful for video, sucky for audio. How can I score my videos? Ahh, ****, I'm blue about all this.

Any one have a copy of logic 5 platinum their willing to sell. Does Emagic have a system like propellerheads where you can transfer the lisc number to another customer when you sell your item?

You might call and ask them; the answer may be different for different countries.

yeah I did like you told me before and the cali office said they do not have any more left. I wanted to purchase one from ebay. But do they allow for registration and serial numbers to be transferred over like propellerheads does for Reason?

I use MIDI Studio 10-you are correct it's based on Logic and was released very recently. You can open Logic .lso files, but I find they load slower.

It has the HyperDraw feature
The synths are similar-VAX9, FMX1 are different names from the Apple Logic ones.

The PDF manual included is easy to understand.

My version of MAGIX Music Studio supports ReWire 2.0.
Mac mini 1.5GHz, 512MB,60GB HDD. Logic Express 7 & 8.
PC-AMD Sempron 3200+ (1.8GHz), 1GB, 80GB HDD,Magix Music Studio. Both with Sony F-V120 mic,Creative Prodikeys DM and Concertmate 580 keyboard.

Great review of C-Lab, E-Magic....etc

Postby Trumpet_Player on Wed Dec 07, 2005 2:11 pm

I bought one of the first versions of Notator and ran it on my Atari. There was magic in the stuff of Lengeling and Adam...Then went on to later Logic versions.
Really wanted to continue with that product but changed my mind after it left the PC platform. Shure miss it though.
I really enjoyed reading the review and will read it more thoroughly later.

Logic Audio 511

Postby Word Hawg on Fri Feb 10, 2006 5:04 pm

I currently have a Roland SI24 with Logic Pro RPC 5.3.0

On emagic site there is little information reference to this equipment. There is even less on the Logic Pro RPC s/w shipped with the SI24.

I did find an upgrade titled Logic Audio 511 in three versions - vanilla, Gold and Platinum.

Are these upgrades to the s/w I am currently using?

Hey Topic on Logic!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-)

hey can anybody please tell me, how to "export to (Wave) an arrangement on logic?? Arrangement includes (Audio+Midi)

How does one export on Logic???
I tried "File>Export>And seleceted each of the various options"
To No Avail!

I then tried,"To Bounce the whole arrangement, that didn't work, kept getting "ASIO overload".or the bounce would stop halfway..with an error message.

Is it not possible to export on Logic??

Do a non-realtime bounce. That will stop the overloads. The setting is in the bounce dialog box.

If you have external midi synths you have to use the realtime bounce though. But you can mute everything except those tracks you want to bounce and bring the audio file back into the arrange. Then you can do the non-realtime.

:?:
How do you do that??
Cuz once i click on "Windows>Open Track Mixer> scroll all the way to the right, to locate the master and click on "bounce", a dialog box pops up, but there's no option for "non-realtime bounce"..Am i missing something here??

Right. 5.1 does not. That means you may have to bounce sections at a time to avoid overloads. Mute half the tracks and try a bounce. Then mute the others and do a second. Mix the two audio tracks.

You might want to do a "stem" mix by logically bouncing sections that make the mix easier.

say a 4 part stem mix

1. drums
2. lead vocal
3. back vocals
4. everything else +midi tracks

Then bounce the 4 tracks to stereo.
