Whip out your wallets: NI new releases!!!

Postby earthloop on Wed Sep 13, 2006 3:00 pm

Well, it's party time across the board in music software land it seems! I 'accidentally' came across a reference to 'Absynth 4' in another forum and I said to myself..."hey wha..." What's going on? I can't keep up!

Well, it is not just Absynth (for anyone who hasn't already noticed)...try FM8!!! and Komplete 4...a new audio/midi interface (Audio Kontrol 1)..and the list goes on!!!

Run, don't walk to the NI site now to see marvels of the new age of computer music making!!! (I am auditioning for a marketing position...not!!! )

 I've had Reaktor for nearly 2 years now and I still haven't wrapped my head around it completely. $1500 actually seems like a reasonable price for the Komp4 bundle.

It's unbelievable at the moment with software releases! Just when I thought I will get a Mac and Logic (ALL of my budget) everyone else emerges from the gloom of their workshops with more shiny technology baubles to tempt me with!!!

ALL the other main sequencers are being released!!!

Soft synths by the gazillion (including new versions of the couple I already have but have barely used!!!

New computers (Apple)

What is a poor muso to do???

Fm8 and massive look cool. Im hoping this is the start of a trend by major software companies away from emulations and into software designed, user friendly VSTis.

Absynth 4....[darn]....it maybe sounds stupid but I really like to spend a lot of time in front Ab3 and play with it for hours.... :D It has such wide range of sounds....and this one will be much better....

Massive....I think that's synth will rock....it will suit for trance, hardcore for sure....and it will be used a lot!!!

FM8....as we can hear from previews....it has wonderfull arp's and great fx's....

Can't wait to come them out, definately worth a buy....

bought komplete kare 2006 in May but went through a lot of craziness so didn't even bother installing it. my mac's in need of a rebuild and i've been putting it off. but i saw that they're discontinuing the komplete kare program so I just registered online -- was kind of sandbagging, hoping for a new version of Komplete. anyway, i'm looking forward to getting the upgrades loaded.

a) is for absynth -- owned it separately since version 1.x and it's absolutely insane. looks like the new version tones has a towned-down interface so it doesn't look so much like something from HR Giger

b) is for battery -- i always liked the interface but have been having trouble with my drumKat so I haven't gotten nearly out of it what I should.

c) DX, I mean FM... i see that they've done away with the dated visuals for FM7 with the new FM8 upgrade and included a lot more presets. actually, it's starting to make Kore look more attractive

d) B4 -- haha. perhaps they're responding to the competition, but it's still nice to see that they're not dropping the farfisa and harmonium additions

e) Pro53 -- boy is this starting to look dated, especially with Arturia's work in recreating the classics. i'd be surprised if they did much besides making this intel-mac compatible.

f) Reaktor -- words cannot describe how deep this environment is. but just to have access to the library of instruments and tools created by other users... the now outdated keyboard magazine reaktor synth, which had a built-in oscilliscope -- now that's what I'd like to see in a HARDWARE synth, so you know what your sound looks like.

g) Kontakt -- there are so many competing soft synths that I'm not sure how a company would go about keeping their product relevant. adding surround sound support and a 15GB library helps -- that means my next mac will need a much bigger drive!

h) akoustic & electik pianos -- never used these but I've usually gotten by pretty well with my Kurzweil and EVP88. kudos to sampling an upright piano because darnit, not everyone wants to play a steinway

i) guitar rig -- any of you cats use this? i'm a pod man myself. but having more effects available to kontakt and logic is always a good thing
