NI FM8 and Battery 3 Sound Libraries Question

Postby Joystik on Sat Sep 23, 2006 5:54 am

Hey,

Ok I still have a few bits and pieces of my equipment on order at the moment two of them being FM7 and Battery 2. As most people know by now new versions of these and a few other NI products have just been released. What I would like to know is.... What are the chances that the previous sound libraries of Battery 2 and FM7 are included in the new incarnations? Reason I ask is because my hard drive burnt and crashed on me a while back and I lost a truck load of songs at least a good couple of hundred and was planning to remake them but I made a lot of them with FM7 and therefore require the same presets.

So should I by FM7 and then upgrade (it will probably work out cheaper anyway, maybe) so that I have my FM7 sounds as well as the new? Or if the FM7 library is included in FM8 go straight for the new version? The same question also applies to Battery.

I have fm7 and I would just buy fm7 again and then just buy the upgrade from n.i. works out cheaper. as far as battery 2 is concerned I dont know if i would get it. Being that battery 2 is already a great program. Im not sure how much better it could get... Im not really crazy about the drums that come included with battery 2...

Cheers....
After posting my reply I did investigate the FM7/8 scenario for a while and also found that it would just work out cheaper to buy 7 first and then upgrade to 8. As far as Battery 2 goes I'm just gonna go straight for Battery 3, I bought Synthetic Drums 1&2 earlier this month so that will do me for sounds in addition to Battery 3's library. On top of that I have a library of sounds collated over the years so no worries.

Cheers again

FM 8 includes all the FM7 sounds and Battery 3 includes all the Battery 2 and Battery 1 kits. You can load anything you made with either old version into the new versions.

Are you refering to the inclusion of FM7 Sounds I and II? They are only sound libraries which were available for the FM7, the main thing for me is that I need to have the original presets that were created for the FM7 the add on sound sets aren't an issue. I'm gonna send an email to someone I've spoken to a couple of times who works for NI and see what he says, I'll let you know.

Got an email back from the guy at NI...

Confirmed the original FM7 presets, FM7 sounds I and FM7 sounds II are all included which is a major major bonus. I'm still gonna buy FM7 and 8 regardless as it still works out cheaper. Unfortunately I'll have to keep the FM7 I buy around and not sell it incase my DAW crashes and I have to re-install the FM8 update.
