midi issue, exs24

Postby jontakiff on Tue May 29, 2007 8:46 pm

Hey guys,

I have an ancient Yamaha YES keyboard that I got for $25 at the thrift store. I'm using it as a midi controller, in order to trigger samples from Logic EXS 24. Here's the thing...the lowest note on the keyboard triggers the "C0" note when I set up my sample bank. When I next open the exs24 sampler, the lowest note on the keyboard now triggers the key one octave higher...the result is, the sample set I've created is now useless, since the lowest note on the keyboard won't access the samples I've placed in the first octave. I know this is weird question...hopefully someone has ideas?

Thanks.
I like music...all the time. Gotta have it.

I know this isn't what you are looking for, but for future reference if your on a tight budget check out ebay first, you could get a used midi controller for another 25. People seem to switch them out pretty fast once they want more keys, octave -/+, knobs, you get the picture.

Yamaha and the rest of the world have not always agreed on where C1 is. That is the problem, but it makes absolutely no difference if you map to C1 or C0 if you think about it. Just hit your octave switch. There is a preference in Logic somewhere that lets you use the old Yamaha octave scheme.
